Mobile Concepts Technology (MCT) outfits Alexandria, VA and Chesterfield County police departments with rugged, in-vehicle technology
December 9, 2019 (Alexandria, VA) – Mobile Concepts Technology (MCT), a distributor of rugged technology for government agencies such as fire departments, law enforcement, EMS, and state and local departments, has contracted with both the City of Alexandria and Chesterfield County, VA police departments, to provide nearly 1,500 Panasonic Toughbook rugged laptop computers and accessories in a rolling replacement program at each agency.
MCT president and CFO Bill Duncan explained, “There is an increasing need for rugged devices to meet the specific demands of public safety agencies working in various environments. Safety personnel requires access to technology that helps them respond to calls, identify threats, and communicate with other officials from their vehicles, on foot, or from department headquarters.
Rugged computers are reliable and can withstand heavy use and handling.” The rugged laptops and accessories were purchased off the National IPA contract, of which MCT is designated as a top reseller. The National IPA leverages the purchasing volume of participating public agencies across the country for volume discounts from suppliers. This cooperative strategy offers lower costs, and time and resource savings, to participating agencies. Recently, the Chesterfield County Police Department moved to the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) contract for an acquisition of 148 Panasonic Toughbook computers from MCT.
In addition to guiding the acquisition process for the police departments, MCT also provided no-cost consulting services to the agencies to help streamline research and sales to optimize funds and efficiency for the best possible outcomes for the departments and the communities they serve.
